The Dears were right on the edge. They were hot shit, the next big thing and now they're could-have-been's. They never really got their breakthrough right, and the rules say you can't stand on the breakthrough-edge too long. The Dears did, and now mainstream has totally forgotten these indie guys. And that's a shame for these dudes that were the Canadian indie heroes, a place taken over by Arcade Fire, I believe. As always the melodies are melancholic and guitar-driven, which uses to please fans of, well, Arcade Fire, Coldplay and especially The Thrills.
