More Bonus-shizzle!

Hi!

One more bracket-post from me. This fancy zip-file contains two additional bonus tracks from Feeder's latest guilty pleasure, Silent Cry. Both in great quality. The first bonus track is Yeah Yeah, and it's a blast. Brilliant. On the second track, Every Minute, lead singer Grant Nicholas sings to a girl called Sarah. I prefer Yeah Yeah.

Santogold - Santogold (2008)

Hello.

If you're into a strange mixture of pop, R'nB, punk, indie, hiphop and catchyness you'll be listening to Santogold all summer. To put names on this, it's the missing link(s) between Yeah Yeah Yeahs, M.I.A, Tegan and Sara, Gwen Stefani and an amateur 90's cover band that plays in a basement somewhere. I know you've been seaching for that link for quite some time. But is it any good? Yes, indeed. It's strange as hell but not hard to enjoy. So throw away your prejudices, pull the finger out of your ass and enjoy Santogold.

You know you want to,
Joachim.

By the way, summer vacation posts won't exactly spread like Chlamydia for quite some time, so don't expect daily posts at all. Hjörtur and I will each get our tan and then post again. Feel with us.

A little summer treat

Hey dudes and dudettes

As a part of my summer vacation, I will be traveling to faraway places for the next 3 weeks. Unfortunately I will not be able post much in this period.

But fear not. I will be be back stronger than i have ever been. And as a little gift for you while I am gone, i am post a bunch of remixes made by the french DJ-duo Justice. The remixes include Death from Above 1979, Klaxons, MGMT, Coldplay, Metallica and many more.

If this won't get you on the dance floor, I guarantee you that nothing will.

Sincerely yours
Hjörtur

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular (2008)

This Brooklyn electro-psychedelic-rock group's name is pronounced "Management". You've probably heard some of their tunes this spring, since they've got shitloads of hype and airplay. At their first official gig as a band they jammed two hours non-stop to the Ghostbusters-theme.
Damn, why wasn't I there?

Some of the songs on the album are really radio-friendly, while others are more... let's just say psychedelic. As a part of their huge success, MGMT is going to support Radiohead at their next world tour. Now thats talking about achievements.

Extra Treat!

Oy there!

I just want to post this as a bracket, because it's not that much of a post... But this is for you Coldplay-fans out there, and for you, this IS a Treat! Recently, a 7-inch vinyl came with an issue of the English music magazine NME. It featured Coldplay's first single, Violet Hill, and a B-side exclusively included on the 7-inch. This B-side is called A Spell A Rebel Yell, and it's pretty good. This post also features the A-side, Violet Hill, in quite bad quality, but you can get that in good quality by downloading the album from our blog.

dEUS - Vantage Point (2008)

Hi!

Just a post before I go to school. Vacation is on Friday!!! This is dEUS, the finest thing to come out of Belgium together with beer, wafels and chocolate. Vantage Point is their latest album, it was released 21st April, I think. This is not as manic and artrock as the other dEUS records (that I'm planning to post in the near future), it's actually almost more of an ordinary rock-album. But dEUS apparently knows how to deal with ordinary rock and that makes Vantage Point a quite good record. Be sure to check out the amazing "Slow", featuring Karin Dreijer from swedish electronica outfit, The Knife and some nice keyboards. The Vanishing Of Maria Schneider and Popular culture are just plain, good rock. dEUS brings the thunder!

Sigur Rós - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust (2008)

Here's the latest outcome from our friends in the north, Sigur Rós. It's long and unpronouncable title, is Icelandic and translates to "With Ringing in Our Ears We Play Endlessly". This album is a little more alive, than it's preceder, Hvarf-Heim, but the band certainly keeps it's very "quiet" style.

The music video to the ablums first single, "Gobbledigook", featuring a bunch of young happy people, running and dancing around naked in the wood, was of strange reasons removed from Youtube.

Grand Archives - Grand Archives (2008)

Oy!

I'm slowly turning into an indie guy. This is Grand Archives, an amazing indie band from rainy Seattle. The lead singer is Mat Brooke (that guy who played guitar in Band Of Horses and quit when they got famous). But this is fucking great music, not as calm as Fleet Foxes, but still, it's not brutal death metal... Beautiful and catchy melodies, light voices and a damn fine production does the work for Grand Archives, this is definately worth a listen for rock guys as well as indie guys. Torn Blue Foam Couch, Index Moon and Sleepdriving are fantastic tunes!

Enjoy this fine thing,

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes (2008)

Hi!

What time is it? I bet it's glorious indie-folk time! Fleet Foxes are American, and their self-titled debut album (called Fleet Foxes, if there are any doubts) has recieved shit loads of acclaim. Maximum caracthers from the likes of The Guardian, The Times, MusicOMH.com, Consequence Of Sound and Danish music magazine GAFFA say pretty much. And yes, it is good. In fact, it's brilliant. This is fine (but kind of fragile) melodies, amazing vocal harmonies and no pompousness at all. It all feels some kind of underplayed, but it still sounds like the band have put everything they have into it.
If you like charming indie-folk, then Fleet Foxes will more than do the job. They will do a damn good job!

May the force be with you,

Coldplay - Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008)

Oy!

Look what I found! Today's treat is a close runner to the title of "The Most Anticipated Album of 2008". Of course, I'm talking about the new Coldplay album with the heavyweight title "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends". This one is produced by living legend Brian Eno, and according to the first single, Violet Hill, he has given the Coldplay sound some kind of new dimension. Even though Coldplays softrock may be a guilty pleasure, I just can't wait to hear this! I haven't heard this one yet, so I can't really tell you how good this thing is. I hope that Viva La Vida will talk for itself, cause then I'll use the occasion to shut up.
